ACU Endorses Richard Burr

Washington, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced its endorsement of Senator Richard Burr (ACU Lifetime rating: 90%) for re-election, the leading conservative in North Carolina’s race for U.S. Senate.

“Senator Burr has been a leader in standing up to the Obama Administration’s hapless approach to defeating radical Islamic terrorists,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp.  “As the Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, he has worked tirelessly to ensure America is properly protected and has tried wherever possible to work with Democrats to strengthen national security.  Richard Burr has been a principled conservative, working to make it easier to both keep high paying jobs in the United States and keep an overly intrusive government from harming the interests of the people of North Carolina.  When it comes to our sacred constitutional rights, Senator Burr is always a staunch champion.  We urge the voters in North Carolina to send this good American back to the Senate.”

Senator Richard Burr responded to ACU’s endorsement by saying, “The American Conservative Union is a leader in standing up for conservative principles and they’ve played an integral role in building a stronger America.  I’m proud to have their support in my re-election campaign."

Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the nation’s original conservative organization.  For more than fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense.  As one of America's premier conservative voices, ACU promotes a conservative vision on issues before Congress, the Executive Branch, State Legislatures, the media, political candidates, and the public.
