Statement from ACU Executive Director Gregg Keller on MO SB207

“The American Conservative Union applauds Missouri Senators Rob Schaaf, Mike Parson, Doug Libla and Wayne Wallingford who for several hours last night bravely fought to stop a tax increase which would prop up government-mandated monopolies. SB 207 does not guarantee any additional services to customers and at a time when residents are counting every penny, taxing Missouri households additional hundreds of dollars per year simply adds insult to injury.”

Why can’t we vacation in Cuba? Because it’s a terror state

As an attendee at this weekend’s White House Correspondents Dinner, it struck me that I agree with the president. At least on one issue. Rapper Jay-Z’s recent decision to visit Cuba is a problem. Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé traveled to Cuba to celebrate (in their words) their fifth wedding anniversary in spite of a U.S. tourist ban.  Many of my friends on the right ask: “Why can’t Americans travel to any country they wish to? Why can we go as tourists to China but not Cuba?”

Coming Up Short on Dr. Gosnell

By L. Brent Bozell III

The trial of notorious Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell -- as close to a demonic presence as anything this country will ever see -- was almost a month old when the network blackout finally ended. CNN broke its silence, as did CBS. National newspapers sent reporters to the trial for the first time.

They started covering it only because of a national outrage that they would so deliberately withhold this horror story from the public -- for political reasons.

“Our current immigration system is broken, our borders are not secure and we have de facto amnesty in which government picks winners and losers among those who are here illegally, including who is deported or not.

We are grateful for the volunteers, first responders, homeland security and law enforcement personnel who reacted quickly to save lives and are working around the clock to investigate these senseless acts of terror. Those who perpetrated these acts will not break the will of the American spirit – rather they have strengthened our resolve. We stand with the people of Boston today as proud Americans and will fight to remain the land of the free and home of the brave.”
