Rep. Jeb Hensarling (TX) Confirmed to Speak at CPAC 2016

February 26, 2016

“Our nation’s foundational principles, enshrined in the Constitution, are disappearing before our very eyes. Specifically, the ‘rule of law’ and ‘power of the purse’ are being eroded. There is an urgent need to reclaim Congress’ Article I Powers from the Executive, and that is why I was proud to join with Senator Mike Lee to create the Article I Project. I cannot think of a more fitting forum to discuss this vitally important project than with the thousands of liberty loving, movement conservatives at CPAC,” said Congressman Jeb Hensarling.

Jeb Hensarling represents the 5th District of Texas, and serves as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee – where he leads efforts to protect consumer choice, promote competitive markets and hold the Federal Reserve and Washington regulators accountable to hardworking taxpayers.

Throughout his career, Jeb has worked to defend and advance conservative, free market principles. He has been recognized as a conservative leader in the effort to reduce the size and expense of the federal government; abolish the former quid-pro-quo spending earmark process; and led the effort against the 2008 TARP bailout as well as working against other taxpayer-funded government subsidies and corporate welfare, including the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank.

Under Jeb’s leadership, the House Financial Services Committee passed the most significant Federal Reserve reform in a generation, exposed government abuse, and held Obama Administration appointees accountable. He is leading the effort to repeal and replace Obama’s financial control law — the Dodd-Frank Act — with 7 changes signed into law in 2015 alone.

CPAC 2016 will be held March 2-5 at the Gaylord Hotel National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The theme, “Our Time is Now” is taken from a 1981 speech by Ronald Reagan.

The ACU would like to extend a special thanks to this year’s CPAC sponsors The National Rifle Association (NRA), The Heritage Foundation, One America News Network (OANN), The Daily Signal, Townhall Media, and Cobalt Media Group.
