Constituents to Tom Perriello:
Limit Government Involvement in Health Care

Virginia's 5th Congressional District - Constituents opposed to more government involvement in health care turned out tonight for a town hall meeting held by Rep. Tom Perriello at Fluvanna Middle School in Fort Union, VA.

Those who spoke to ACU representatives attending the event expressed concern over increased government involvement in health care decisions.

William Marley, who is retired and lives in Perriello's district said, "I definitely do not support a Government Health Care Plan."

Gena Guerin, a Small Business Owner, said she was concerned that decisions affecting her family's health care could be made Washington. She said, "we really need to take a step back. Health care decisions should be made between a patient and a doctor. I am all for reform but it needs to be done the right way."

Dave Flynn, a 69-year-old retiree and veteran who owned a small business, said he has had multiple medical problems all of which were covered by his private insurance plans. He added, "We don't need another government program until they clean up the programs up there" (in Washington). He said some in Congress "woke up a sleeping giant" by promoting all of the rampant spending currently happening in Washington.

The American Conservative Union has been actively informing its members about Town Hall meetings across America to give citizens an opportunity to voice their concerns over the current health care proposals before Congress.

Today, ACU announced a Townhall Roadtrip Across America. Tonight's townhall was one stop along the trip.
