ALEXANDRIA – ACU PAC has contacted tens of thousands of voters in New York's 23 Congressional District over the last several days urging a vote for Doug Hoffman in Tuesday's special election.
In the call to voters, ACU PAC Chairman David Keene said, "There is a reason so much attention is being paid to your Tuesday special election. If Doug Hoffman wins he will fight higher taxes. If Doug Hoffman wins he will be a roadblock to wasteful spending. If Doug Hoffman wins he will embody the spirit of Ronald Reagan."
Keene added, "His opponent will send us right down the path of higher taxes, wasteful spending and huge deficits."
Meanwhile, New York's Conservative Party Chairman, Mike Long, on whose ballot line Hoffman's name appears credited David Keene, Chairman of ACU PAC, for helping shape the race.
The Washington Times reported "Mr. Long attributed the shift of Republicans to the Conservative Party first to the endorsement of Mr. Hoffman by American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keene, whose opinion carries weight with conservative Republicans around the country."
In addition to calling voters, ACU PAC has hosted several conference calls on behalf of Hoffman with key opinion leaders.
These calls included a call last night where Matt Burns, former spokesman for Dede Scozzafava's campaign for Congress stated that she was wrong to endorse Democrat Bill Owens.
As the Washington Times reported: "That is not something I agreed with, henceforth, I'm participating on this call," Mr. Burns said on a conference call that was arranged by the American Conservative Union political action committee.
