MARCH WILL DEMONSTRATE THAT AMERICANS ARE TIRED OF THE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF WASTEFUL SPENDING, SKYROCKETING DEFICITS AND DEBT

Alexandria, VA -  Grassroots members of the nation's largest conservative organization, the American Conservative Union, will join Americans from across the nation this Saturday at the 9/12 March in Washington.

The March follows the tea party events and August congressional town hall meetings where thousands of average Americans - many of whom had not participated in political activities in the past - came out to demonstrate their strong concern over the massive amounts of federal spending coming out of Washington.

The American Conservative Union is a co-sponsor of the 9/12 event.

"Our national deficit is hitting record highs, debt projections are huge and after all of the stimulus spending, which the President said would lower unemployment, our unemployment rate is at the highest level in a generation," said ACU Chairman David Keene, "It is clear why Americans are concerned about spending and the prospect of additional spending from the health care proposals."

Tens of thousands of ACU Members have been calling their Senators and Members of Congress for months urging them to curb spending in Washington.  Thousands more attended local tea party events and Congressional town halls to send the same message.

"Americans are fed up," said ACU Executive Vice President and former Reagan Deputy Secretary of Labor Dennis Whitfield, "They expect their elected officials to listen.  The President claims he will not sign a health care bill which increases the deficit  - but his track record including government bailouts of private industry where American taxpayers will lose billions and his wasteful stimulus spending say otherwise.  Enough is enough."
