On the 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, ACU Announces Senators Lee, Toomey, and Santorum to Address CPAC 2013

January 21, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced on the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that strong pro-life supporters U.S. Senators Mike Lee and Pat Toomey will join former Presidential Candidate and U.S. Senator Rick Santorum in addressing CPAC 2013—the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

“We are thrilled to announce that Senators Mike Lee and Pat Toomey as well as former Senator Rick Santorum will be featured speakers at CPAC 2013,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “They will join scores of conservative leaders at what will be the most important political conference of the year. We look forward to welcoming them to the stage and hearing about what they are doing to further and energize the conservative movement.”

Since his election in 2010 as Utah’s 16th Senator, Mike Lee has spent his career defending the basic liberties of Americans and Utahns as a tireless advocate for our founding constitutional principles. Senator Lee serves on the Natural Resources, Foreign Relations, and Joint Economic committees.

Senator Pat Toomey, the junior Senator for Pennsylvania, previously served as the United States Representative for Pennsylvania from 1999 to 2005. Since joining the Senate in 2011, he has distinguished himself as a leader on economic, financial services and budgetary issues, striving to restore fiscal discipline to Washington and economic opportunity for all Americans. Senator Toomey currently serves on the Budget, Joint Economic, and Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs committees in addition to the Commerce, Science and Transportation committee.

Prior to running for President, former Senator Rick Santorum served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995, and in the U.S. Senate from 1995 to 2007. Mr. Santorum made it a priority to take on Washington’s special interests from the moment he arrived in our nation’s Capitol in 1991. As a member of the “Gang of Seven” he helped to expose the Congressional Banking and Congressional Post Office scandals.

The 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference, to be held March 14-16, 2013, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, will provide three days of blockbuster speeches, policy discussions and networking opportunities – all celebrating the shared principles of smaller government, a strong national defense and traditional American values. The ACU has hosted CPAC in the Nation’s Capital since 1973, and it now stands as the largest annual gathering of conservatives in the country. Media registration (including bloggers) will open on February 1, 2013. The CPAC 2013 schedule and list of confirmed speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. Previously announced confirmed featured speakers include: U.S. Senators Rand Paul and Marco Rubio and U.S. Representative Paul Ryan.

For almost fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. ACU defines conservatism, grows conservatism, and wins for conservatism.
