ACU-PAC Endorses Tennessee Conservatives for Re-Election
Washington, DC - The American Conservative Union (ACU) Political Action Committee today announced its endorsement of conservatives in the Tennessee delegation for the Republican Primary August 7 and for re-election in November.
In the 7th District Marsha Blackburn (lifetime rating of 96) has the highest lifetime ACU rating in the delegation—96—and has been provided leadership for conservatives on many issues during her 12 years in the House. She has been a tireless fighter for conservative amendments to spending bills and we applaud her commitment to deficit reduction.
In the 1st District, Dr. Phil Roe (lifetime rating 89) has provided knowledge and leadership in the fight against Obamacare.
Both 6th District congressman Diane Black (lifetime rating 90) and Chuck Fleischmann (lifetime rating 89) of the 3rd District were elected with the class of 2010 and quickly showed they could be counted on to advance conservative principles in the House.
As the dean of the Tennessee delegation, John “Jimmy” Duncan (lifetime rating 88) of the 2nd District has shown consistent support for conservative principles on a wide variety of issues over 26 years of service.
In the 4th District, State Senator Jim Tracy is the clear choice for conservatives. Senator Tracy was a Defender of Liberty Award winner in ACU’s state legislative ratings for 2013. He has been a leader for conservatives in the Tennessee legislature and will bring those qualities to the U.S. House. Incumbent Congressman Scott DesJarlais ACU rating of 76 in 2013 is below the minimum standard to be considered for endorsement and his actions have not matched his rhetoric.
Although Senator Lamar Alexander has supported efforts to fight big labor and end the wind energy tax credit, his ACU rating of 60 is twenty points below even the minimum standard for endorsement consideration. ACU PAC believes Tennessee deserves more conservative representation in the Senate.
The ACU Political Action Committee is the political arm of the American Conservative Union, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization. The committee supports candidates for office who reflect the conservative principles on which ACU was founded. The goals of the ACU PAC are to increase the number of quality candidates who share our commitment to conservative principles and to protecting and advancing the fiscal, social and security priorities of the Reagan era. These funds are utilized in conjunction with endorsements and public announcements to communicate our support for chosen candidates to their constituents and conservatives across the nation.
The ACU recently announced its 2013 Ratings of Congress, the 43rd edition of the conservative ratings guide. For more information on the ACU PAC or to download the full 2013 Ratings of Congress, please visit conservative.org.
