ACU and IFL Applauds Introduction of Legislation Protecting Michigan Fans’ Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Al Cardenas and Institute for Liberty (IFL) President Andrew Langer today issued the following statement applauding the introduction of SB 1186 and SB 1187, sponsored by State Sen. Joe Hune, R-Hamburg Twp., to protect free-market competition and promote innovation in the live event ticketing industry.

“The American Conservative Union and Institute for Liberty oppose restrictive tickets. Such extraordinary restraints on trade are an attempt to control both the primary and secondary ticket markets and represent a threat to competition and to personal property rights. Michigan conservatives support the principles of a fair, free and open market and believe they own the tickets they buy.

“We applaud State Sen. Hune for his leadership and look forward to engaging with leaders in both houses to secure passage of this important legislation.”

The American Conservative Union is America’s oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization and was founded in 1964. The ACU has hosted CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, in the Nation’s Capital since 1973. Learn more at conservative.org.
