ACU and IFL Applaud Advancement of Legislation Protecting New Jersey Fans’ Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Al Cardenas and Institute for Liberty (IFL) President Andrew Langer today issued the following statement applauding the New Jersey Assembly Regulated Professions Committee for advancing A2258, legislation to protect free-market competition and promote innovation in the live event ticketing industry.

“The American Conservative Union and Institute for Liberty oppose paperless tickets and other restrictive practices. These unprecedented restraints on trade are an attempt to control both the primary and secondary ticket markets and represent a threat to competition and to personal property rights. New Jersey conservatives support the principles of a fair, free and open market and believe they own the tickets they buy and can give away, share or sell their tickets however they choose.

“We applaud Assemblyman Vincent Prieto for his leadership in introducing this important legislation, as well as his colleagues State Senators Raymond Lesniak and Robert Singer for introducing companion legislation in the Senate, and look forward to engaging with leaders in both houses to secure passage.”
