Editor: I really appreciated reading your article “Romney Right on Culture.” It brought to mind the book “Victory of Reason” by Rodney Stark in which he describes the breakthrough by the middle ages monk on the ethics of “usury” to allow the accumulation of the capital so necessary for the growth of capital intensive industries. If you have not seen this book, it is available on Amazon – used for a little over $5. Well worth the read. Ed Gabrielse
Editor: Regarding your editorial “Romney Right on Culture,” because President Obama’s record is one of utter and complete failure on both domestic and foreign fronts, the Obama thugs have decided to wage a war of personal destruction against Mitt Romney, including an effort to portray this good man as “Extreme.” The truth is that Mitt Romney reflects the values held dear by most Americans. Extreme? Perhaps to those who do not value freedom, liberty, and opportunity! However, for the majority of Americans, Mitt Romney and his “extreme” views are just what this nation needs in 2012! Editor: Regarding Alan Caruba’s “ABCs ‘Slime’ Distortion” his disclosure of the unprofessional “journalism” written by ABC’s Jim Avila, against a professional company respected for their integrity in providing the best of their product, is the screaming megaphone of a narcissistic “wannabe” journalist, not a professional journalist! I can evaluate this ‘writer’ because my late uncle was a Bureau Chief of the Associated Press during WW11, and integrity was his hallmark as a true and highly respected journalist! There seems to be a complete void in professionalism concerning today’s field of ‘journalists’ in all forms of media both written, verbal and filmed, with rare exceptions. Those exceptions are a constant target from the incompetent ‘average’ and ‘below average’ media!
I’ve lived through 14 presidents and 6 major wars with the final understanding of what political parties are to the American people. Neither party has, in the past 23 years, been a friend and representative of the very people who pay their salaries and give them the ‘golden rewards’ both during and after their “political careers” finally come to an end. It doesn’t matter if they have “served” the people for one term or 50 years, they still get the benefits given to a King or the head of General Motors! The people however get whatever they can save or invest in, AND whatever their “representatives’ decide they can have left AFTER TAXES! Recipients of Social Security, (the greatest ‘Ponzi scheme’ ever contrived by Socialist President Franklin D. Roosevelt) weren’t allowed to vote on the plan nor did their employers and were and are taxed during their employment and after their retirement! Isn’t there a law against “double taxation”?! would like to recognize those excellent representatives in both parties who strongly “represent” their constituents! Their names need to be honored by Americans who respect our history and our flag. Our troops know who they are!
Regulations for any business are necessary to accomplish a good result. But how does the government know what regulations are needed for a privately owned business, large or small? How does the government know what your child needs on a daily basis as you teach them how to become qualified and respected thinkers and, respected in society? Teaching them the same core values we were taught in our young years by parents who loved us, not government! Government isn’t going to help with homework, bandage a cut or sit in the hospital waiting for news on a loved ones fate. It’s not going to help you through a crisis, financial or health. Only family, friends and church do that!
Thank you for all your well thought out and written articles and reports on what is going on in America at this time, prior to the most critically important election in American history!! I know because I’ve been through 14 and this is by far the only critical one I’ve endured. Not always who I wanted but at least they loved America! Lynn Wharton
