Editor: I just read your article entitled “The Conservative Plan.” You will be glad to know that we in the tea party movement in Indiana have already initiated this plan. We are not going to let DC dictate to us what we can and cannot do. Thankfully, we have a great governor-elect, Mike Pence, and in my district, a very fine state legislator. We have our plans…..and will be working on them. We decided about 5 days after the election, once the shock wore off, that we would go local. All politics is local…..did not an infamous House Leader once say that? And indeed it is. We will be doing our best in Elkhart, Elkhart county and Indiana to see to the preservation of liberty here. Thanks for the article. Susan Chilberg, co-founder, tea party michiana action coalition (Tea-MAC)
Editor: “The Conservative Plan” is a good article. As Terry Stoops’ great study from 2009 shows, the average annual tuition for private and parochial schools in America is far below what taxpayers now pay per child in government schools. When the lower cost of private school buildings is included, the cost for them is probably under 50% of public schools. BL
Editor: Regarding “The Conservative Plan,” the president’s picture is on the cover of this and the preceding few editions. Please, we all know what he looks like! Cave dwellers know what he looks like. It’s tough enough reading about all of the destruction he is causing, we don’t need to have his image burnished into our minds eye when we try to enjoy the Battleline! His mug is everywhere else, please put some conservative’s picture on the cover page. I’m suffering from post-election depression syndrome. I really enjoy your writing. Keep up the great work. Michael
Editor: Regarding “The Conservative Plan” have you considered the possibility that the Chicago Gangsters are not stupid but are devilishly smart? They are not trying to make things work the American Way! They are trying to make America FAIL, so they can take complete control! If you can explain this SIMPLY AND CLEARLY, he will lose half of his voters. W
Editor: Regarding “The Conservative Plan” Obama didn’t win by enough popular voters for us to give up our VALUES. We don’t need to “court” the gays or agree with “stoned” liberals on pot which leads to greater “fun” drugs, robberies, rapes & deaths. Lincoln said something about we would never be destroyed from “outside” but would destroy ourselves from within. Please don’t give up the fight for conservative principles. Pete Christie
Editor: Regarding “The Conservative Plan” if Congress is going to cut Medicare and S.S. I hope they cut their own medical and retirement also. Glendon Starling
Editor: Regarding “The Conservative Plan” the fight to win our nation on 11/6/12 was not a battle, it was THE WAR! I thought we had patriotism, God, logic and common sense on our side and that we would win. The self-serving morons of this once great nation have decided that they want a communist nation and they got it. In order for us to ever get back on any track that looks anything like what our forefathers has envisioned, we must now self destruct and out of those ashes it may be possible for a new “phoenix” to arise and we can then start over. Unfortunately, this will not happen in my lifetime. Al Weir
Editor: Regarding “The Conservative Challenge,” if you look carefully at the demographic groups themselves that are the focus of all this (African-Americans and Hispanics) two things become clear: 1. Agreement on issues: A: While 34 percent of African-America adults agree with us on virtually all of the issues that matter, less than 10 percent will vote with us. B: While the majority of Hispanics (as much as 60 percent) adults agree with us on virtually all of the issues that matter to us except immigration, less than one-third will vote with us. 2. Therefore, this is not a matter of demographics or about issues. It is about attitude. Our candidates and our groups exhibit an attitude that bespeaks insensitivity to the hopes and aspirations of those portions of those groups who should be voting with us but won’t — irrespective of their opinions on values and issues of importance to us which we have in common with them. As an African-American friend of mine said to me the other day, he grew up surrounded by families whose unspoken attitude was “we want you in all of the pictures we take of our friends, but don’t ask us if you can date our daughter.” People know if you are genuine. We don’t come across as genuine in our inclusiveness of all who are economic conservatives at heart, value consistent with us in their homes, and fellow believers in a strong national defense. It takes more than issues in common. Life is more than politics. And, it’s life in common that we must articulate that we share with all. Larry Eastland
Editor: Regarding Gary North’s “Go Over the Cliff”, there will not be much havoc really. In March, Congress and the president will have to contend with the debt ceiling expansion and obtaining approvals from conservatives in Congress will prove very difficult without meaningful budget cuts. In the meantime, lame duck sessions have never been designed to deal with issues of mayor import other than for emergencies. The fiscal cliff is not a major emergency. There will be no recession if the decisions are postponed for 3 months. In the meantime Democrats will know we mean business. The House has already voted for an extension of the Bush tax cuts. If the President wants to give the middle class a continuing tax cut, then he and Harry Reid can approve the House bill. More publicity needs to be given to house bill passage. Al Cardenas
Editor: Regarding Gary North’s “Go Over the Cliff” Boehner et al need to start staging some dramatic, daily press conferences — scripted by someone who knows how to spin things. It needs to be positive. Then the RNC needs to ask every state chairman, every GOP officeholder, every county chairman, every precinct worker to carry the message to the people — a one-page memo, not written in policywonktalk, to everyone. Right now Boehner and his colleagues are coming across as dullard mugwumps — as General SLA Marshall once told me, “That’s a person sitting on a fence, his mug on one side and his wump on the other”. Needless to say, this is a very serious issue … the GOP is allowing itself to be painted into a corner. They need to cease being The Stupid Party … this is s-o-o-o-o-o easy to fix. Jameson Campaign
Editor: Regarding the Goodman/Herrick article “Must Revise Obamacare,” as a physician I can tell you we have already been “squeezed” to the breaking point when it come to remuneration. To think that we will go along indefinitely with further reduction in payments while at the same time continue to provide excellent care is lunacy. Many doctors will drop Medicare patients and others will retire earlier than otherwise planned. This situation is even more egregious when we see an increased income tax burden being proposed on those of us who work long, hard hours to provide needed care. There exists a “last straw” for all of us which appears to be coming in the near future. Dennis W. Dunning M.D.
