American Conservative Union Foundation Announces Five New Board Members

July 12, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) today announced the election of five new board members: 60 Plus Association President Amy Noone Frederick, Focus on the Family Action Vice President of External Relations Tim Goeglein, Let Freedom Ring USA President Colin A. Hanna, National Rifle Association President David Keene and American Enterprise Institute Visiting Fellow Roger F. Noriega. Together with the current ACUF Board members, their mission is to further the educational arm of America’s premier conservative grassroots organization.

“On behalf of the American Conservative Union, I am pleased to welcome these distinguished new members to our Foundation’s Board,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “Together we will continue to expand our hugely successful state ratings, by fulfilling our goal of scoring every legislature in every state, every year. State legislatures are tasked with making important decisions and it is imperative that our elected officials are held accountable.”

“I also welcome these accomplished new members to our ACUF Board at a very critical time in the conservative movement,” said ACUF Chairman Cleta Mitchell. “We are proud that for forty years our annual Ratings of Congress have been considered the gold standard of conservative voter education guides. These ratings are vital to ensuring that citizens are kept informed about member’s votes on key conservative issues.”

Current ACUF Board Members include: Cleta Mitchell (Chairman), Carolyn D. Meadows (Secretary), Van D. Hipp (Treasurer), Al Cardenas, Millie Hallow, Robert Luddy, and Thomas S. Winter.

Amy Noone Frederick is the President of the 60 Plus Association. Bush and deputy director of the White House Office of Public Liaison. Mr. Goeglein also worked for 10 years in the U.S. Senate with Sen. Dan Coates, R-Indiana, and two years at the Campaign for Working Families with Gary Bauer.

After CBS he started and sold several small businesses, including an advertising agency, a computerized barter exchange, a marketing and management consulting firm, an executive search firm and a computer service firm.

Founded in 1964, the ACU represents the views of Americans who are concerned with economic growth through lower taxes and reduced government spending and the issues of liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values and national security.  ACU first began rating members of Congress on key conservative voting issues in 1971, and last year launched a new initiative to bring its annual Ratings of Congress – considered the gold standard of conservative voter education guides – to the state level, issuing inaugural ratings of state legislators in the battleground states of Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and the Commonwealth of Virginia. In the second year of this new program, the ACU is issuing these ratings in fifteen states, based on the legislators’ votes on conservative issues.
