Amanda Bunning serves as the Director of Government Affairs for the American Conservative Union (ACU). Working closely with the Chairman and Executive Director, Amanda oversee all programs relating to legislative initiatives and political issues at the Federal and State level in support of the ACU mission. This includes producing ACUs annual Ratings of Congress– a comprehensive scorecard which reflects how elected officials view the role of government in an individual’s life– and our newly expanded state ratings program. A detailed scorecard has now been produced for all 50 state legislative bodies across the full spectrum of conservative issues. The Government Affairs team evaluates and analyzes legislation and ultimately scored over 8,000 individual elected officials in 2015. This work continues for 2016 legislative sessions.
In addition, Amanda is responsible for the operations of the ACU Political Action Committee and reviewing candidates and races across the country, for the purpose of helping more conservatives get elected.
Prior to joining the ACU, Amanda served as the Coordinator of Government Affairs for Anheuser-Busch Companies, the largest beer company in the world. In her role at Anheuser-Busch, Amanda supported the team’s efforts to manage key stakeholders. Amanda assisted with political and strategic relationship building, budgeting, Hill communications, special events, and logistics.
Prior to joining the Anheuser-Busch Companies, Amanda worked for Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in his Republican Leader Office. Amanda was a part of his administrative team and gained great insight into the U.S. Senate.
Before moving to Washington, DC to pursue a career in politics, Amanda was a high school mathematics teacher for 5 years.
Amanda is a native Kentuckian and she graduated from the University of Georgia in 2008.
She currently resides in Alexandria, VA.
