Washington, D.C. –   The American Conservative Union (ACU) Political Action Committee (PAC) today announced its endorsement of South Carolina’s leading conservatives; Senator Tim Scott, Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Congressman Trey Gowdy (SC-04), Congressman Mick Mulvaney (SC-05) and Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02).

“ACU PAC is pleased to recognize one of the most conservative congressional delegations in the country.  Senator Scott, with an ACU lifetime rating of 97, has wasted no time in bringing his plans to return the U.S. to economic prosperity through free enterprise to the Senate and is someone conservatives across the country can turn to for leadership.  Congressmen Duncan, Gowdy and Mulvaney were three of only 16 members of the House to receive the Defender of Liberty Award for 2013 in recognition of their perfect 100 in the ACU Ratings and their outstanding commitment to conservative principles on a wide variety of issues. And as a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, Joe Wilson has fought the attempts by the Obama Administration to gut our armed forces in favor of wasteful domestic programs. Conservatives in South Carolina should enthusiastically support these four leading conservatives in the Republican Primary June 10 and again in November,” said ACU Director of Government Relations Larry Hart.

The ACU Political Action Committee is the political arm of the American Conservative Union, the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization. The committee supports candidates for office who reflect the conservative principles on which ACU was founded. The goals of the ACU PAC are to increase the number of quality candidates who share our commitment to conservative principles and to protecting and advancing the fiscal, social and security priorities of the Reagan era. These funds are utilized in conjunction with endorsements and public announcements to communicate our support for chosen candidates to their constituents and conservatives across the nation.

The ACU recently announced its 2013 Ratings of Congress, the 43rd edition of the conservative ratings guide. For more information on the ACU PAC or to download the full 2013 Ratings of Congress, please visit conservative.org

As we “all know” from listening

Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the original conservative organization in the nation. For more than forty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. As America's premier conservative voice, ACU is the leading entity in providing conservative positions on issues to Congress, the Executive Branch, State Legislatures, the media, political candidates, and the public.
