WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced Kansas Governor Sam Brownback as a featured speaker at the 2013 regional Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.

“We are thrilled to welcome Governor Brownback as a featured speaker to our 2013 regional CPAC in St. Louis,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “Governor Brownback is a strong conservative leader who set a bold example on tax reform for the rest of the country, turning Kansas into a prosperous state once again.”

As the 46th governor of Kansas, Brownback is focused on getting the state’s economy growing again and creating jobs through controlled spending and lower taxes.  When he took office in 2011, Kansas was in its third straight year of declining revenues, had more than 110,000 Kansans out of work, and faced a $500 million budget shortfall.  He worked with the Kansas Legislature to turn that deficit into a nearly $500 million surplus in one year.

CPAC St. Louis will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the St. Charles Convention Center. It will provide a day of blockbuster speeches, policy discussions and networking opportunities—all celebrating the shared principles of smaller government, a strong national defense and traditional values. For additional information, visit our website at conservative.org/cpac2013, on Facebook at facebook.com/CPACNews, or on Twitter at @cpacnews and #CPACSTL. Media registration (including bloggers) will open on September 3, 2013.

ACU has proudly hosted CPAC – the nation’s largest gathering of conservatives – every year since 1973 in Washington, D.C. And now with an additional regional edition each year, CPAC educates and energizes thousands of attendees, featuring all of the leading conservative organizations and speakers who drive conservative thought in the nation.

Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization in the nation. For almost fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. ACU defines conservatism, grows conservatism, and wins for conservatism.
