Washington, D.C. – Today, former Governor of Alaska and former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin closed the three-day conservative summit with a rousing address to an enthusiastic crowd of conservative activists at CPAC 2014 – a celebration of 50 years of the ACU and America’s largest gathering of conservative leaders and activists.

A crowd favorite and conservative icon, Palin said “I love coming back here because there are always so many young people, or as you’re known by the folks across the river, the ObamaCare suckers…Turns our you have the change they were waiting for…you have the fives, the tens, the twenties.”

“I look at you and I look out at the year ahead, and I feel good about America.”

“Americans know now what the giants of our movement have always told us…there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch. There is no free birth control. There is not free phone. There is no free doctor visits…There is no free ride.”

“This last year something did happen, the awakening began.” She went on to describe the actions of conservatives, such as Senator Ted Cruz’s filibuster.

With a nod to Cruz’s filibuster, she reprised Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham with her own added spice, saying “I do not like this Uncle Sam, I do not like his healthcare scam. I do not like these dirty crooks or how they lie and cook the books. I do not like when Congress steals. I do not like their crony deals, I do not like this Biden man. I do not like ‘Oh yes we can’. I do not like this spending spree, we’re smart, we know there’s nothing free. I don’t like reporters’ smug replies when I complain about their lies. I do not like this kind of hope, and we won’t take it nope, nope, nope.”

She encouraged the conservative audience to support the constitutional conservatives that serve in Congress and to send them reinforcements.

About the next election, she challenged the crowd, “You want another sweep? Grab a broom and join us at the party.”

To the women in the room, she said “A Quick word with the sisters…we know better than to fall for that victimization line from the president and his party, but if you have a friend or sister or roommate falling for this hooey, set them straight.”

“Don’t let them you use you…that’s not liberation that’s subjugation and this sisterhood fights against that!” She continued, “We fight the mastery that big government would want over us.”

“This is a great awakening…the age of Obama is almost over.”

Closing, she said “We know America. Not from the top down, but from the heart looking out. We believe in the promise of America.”

The Honorable Sarah Palin is the former Governor of Alaska and former Republican Vice Presidential candidate. On December 4, 2006, she was sworn in as the first female and youngest governor of Alaska. In August 2008, Senator John McCain tapped Palin to serve as his vice-presidential running mate in his presidential campaign, making her the first woman to run on the Republican Party’s presidential ticket. Under her leadership as governor, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding, reformed the state’s employee pension program, and protected Alaska’s natural resources. She created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. An internationally sought speaker and conservative leader, Palin is an influential force in the national debate. Her endorsement and support from her political action committee, SarahPAC, remain the gold standard for conservative candidates every election cycle.

ACU’s Schlapp on Obama’s Cuba Policy Action

“While I am relieved to hear about the release of Alan Gross, President Obama’s actions today fail to stand up for true democratic reforms in Cuba. Today President Obama insulted and betrayed the Cuban freedom fighters who fled Cuba with just the shirt on their backs. My father-in-law, now in the winter of a heroic man’s life, deserves the peace of mind knowing that America will always stand for human rights and human dignity.”

ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp on Hagel Resignation

“President Obama apparently learned two things from the recent elections: circumvent Congress and blame Republicans,” said Schlapp. “Hagel’s firing comes directly after the irresponsible executive order on immigration last week.”

ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp’s Statement on Executive Amnesty

President Obama’s Executive Order is like a royal decree giving legal status to millions of people who came here and reside here illegally. The president is showing utter contempt for the American voter, the Constitution, the separation of powers and all those who follow the law.

Mark Levin, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina to Speak at CPAC 2015

“We are honored to announce that conservative talk radio powerhouse Mark Levin, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), and ACU Foundation Chairman Carly Fiorina will deliver remarks at CPAC 2015,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “These three conservative leaders reflect our desire to ensure that CPAC 2015 represents conservative policies that highlight the importance of free markets, national security, and traditional cultural standards.”

Schlapp-on-Huckabee

Over the weekend, American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Matt Schlapp and his wife Mercy, who was a spokesperson for President George W. Bush, appeared on FOX News’ Huckabee, where they spoke about their family’s history dealing with the Castro brothers in Cuba.   Their story serves as a reminder to all of us that the freedoms we enjoy are often the result of individuals who have suffered, fighting for those freedoms in the first place.

On The Road to CPAC with Hillsdale YAF!

Some of our favorite student activists at Hillsdale College’s Young Americans for Freedom are clearly ready for the holidays. But they aren’t asking Santa for gifts. They’re asking President Reagan to make their CPAC dreams come true! Watch their awesome submission for The Road to CPAC here:

Did you send your letter to Santa yet?

Santa may not get your letter thanks to the US Postal Service

Well, the U.S. Postal Service might not be able to deliver it! Instead of using valuable taxpayer dollars to fix the problems with mail delivery, they’re busy spending it on costly projects with other companies, like Amazon.
