WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, former Representative Allen West addressed a group of conservative activists during ACU’s annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC 2013) in Washington, D.C.
The Honorable Allen West:
Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic conservatives, West said “We are defined by how quickly we pull ourselves off the mat” and “We understand that the Constitution was written to control the government, not the people.” Addressing the theme of CPAC 2013, West declared, “Now is the time we need a new generation of leaders.”
West closed urging attendees to “be a party of action—deeds and not words will paint this country red.”
West’s full remarks are available via YouTube here.
Please note that the schedule is updated daily and available on our new CPAC 2013 website under “Program.”
Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization in the nation. For almost fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. ACU defines conservatism, grows conservatism, and wins for conservatism.
“While I am relieved to hear about the release of Alan Gross, President Obama’s actions today fail to stand up for true democratic reforms in Cuba. Today President Obama insulted and betrayed the Cuban freedom fighters who fled Cuba with just the shirt on their backs. My father-in-law, now in the winter of a heroic man’s life, deserves the peace of mind knowing that America will always stand for human rights and human dignity.”
“President Obama apparently learned two things from the recent elections: circumvent Congress and blame Republicans,” said Schlapp. “Hagel’s firing comes directly after the irresponsible executive order on immigration last week.”
President Obama’s Executive Order is like a royal decree giving legal status to millions of people who came here and reside here illegally. The president is showing utter contempt for the American voter, the Constitution, the separation of powers and all those who follow the law.
“We are honored to announce that conservative talk radio powerhouse Mark Levin, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), and ACU Foundation Chairman Carly Fiorina will deliver remarks at CPAC 2015,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “These three conservative leaders reflect our desire to ensure that CPAC 2015 represents conservative policies that highlight the importance of free markets, national security, and traditional cultural standards.”
Over the weekend, American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Matt Schlapp and his wife Mercy, who was a spokesperson for President George W. Bush, appeared on FOX News’ Huckabee, where they spoke about their family’s history dealing with the Castro brothers in Cuba. Their story serves as a reminder to all of us that the freedoms we enjoy are often the result of individuals who have suffered, fighting for those freedoms in the first place.
Some of our favorite student activists at Hillsdale College’s Young Americans for Freedom are clearly ready for the holidays. But they aren’t asking Santa for gifts. They’re asking President Reagan to make their CPAC dreams come true! Watch their awesome submission for The Road to CPAC here:
Well, the U.S. Postal Service might not be able to deliver it! Instead of using valuable taxpayer dollars to fix the problems with mail delivery, they’re busy spending it on costly projects with other companies, like Amazon.
