WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) Political Action Committee (PAC) today endorsed Tony Strickland for U.S. Congress in the 26th District of California.
ACU Chairman Al Cardenas issued the following statement:
“Tony Strickland is the clear conservative choice for California’s 26th District. Tony Strickland has been a leader on issues of concern to conservatives in the California legislature. While in the Assembly, he forced then Governor Gray Davis to reveal expensive energy contracts negotiated in secret with companies like Enron. In the State Senate, Tony Strickland has helped lead a consistent effort to solve California’s economic woes by capping spending, reforming the pension system and regulation reform. He will bring those leadership qualities to the Congress. I urge all conservatives to support Tony Strickland for Congress in the June Primary and again in November.”
The ACU Political Action Committee is the political arm of the American Conservative Union, the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization. The committee supports candidates for office who reflect the conservative principles on which ACU was founded. The goals of the ACU PAC are to increase the number of quality candidates who share our commitment to conservative principles and to protecting and advancing the fiscal, social and security priorities of the Reagan era. These funds are utilized in conjunction with endorsements and public announcements to communicate our support for chosen candidates to their constituents and conservatives across the nation.
The ACU recently announced its 2011 Ratings of Congress, the 41st edition of the conservative ratings guide. “While I am relieved to hear about the release of Alan Gross, President Obama’s actions today fail to stand up for true democratic reforms in Cuba. Today President Obama insulted and betrayed the Cuban freedom fighters who fled Cuba with just the shirt on their backs. My father-in-law, now in the winter of a heroic man’s life, deserves the peace of mind knowing that America will always stand for human rights and human dignity.”
“President Obama apparently learned two things from the recent elections: circumvent Congress and blame Republicans,” said Schlapp. “Hagel’s firing comes directly after the irresponsible executive order on immigration last week.”
President Obama’s Executive Order is like a royal decree giving legal status to millions of people who came here and reside here illegally. The president is showing utter contempt for the American voter, the Constitution, the separation of powers and all those who follow the law.
“We are honored to announce that conservative talk radio powerhouse Mark Levin, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), and ACU Foundation Chairman Carly Fiorina will deliver remarks at CPAC 2015,” said ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp. “These three conservative leaders reflect our desire to ensure that CPAC 2015 represents conservative policies that highlight the importance of free markets, national security, and traditional cultural standards.”
Over the weekend, American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Matt Schlapp and his wife Mercy, who was a spokesperson for President George W. Bush, appeared on FOX News’ Huckabee, where they spoke about their family’s history dealing with the Castro brothers in Cuba. Their story serves as a reminder to all of us that the freedoms we enjoy are often the result of individuals who have suffered, fighting for those freedoms in the first place.
Some of our favorite student activists at Hillsdale College’s Young Americans for Freedom are clearly ready for the holidays. But they aren’t asking Santa for gifts. They’re asking President Reagan to make their CPAC dreams come true! Watch their awesome submission for The Road to CPAC here:
Well, the U.S. Postal Service might not be able to deliver it! Instead of using valuable taxpayer dollars to fix the problems with mail delivery, they’re busy spending it on costly projects with other companies, like Amazon.
